CHALLENGE
Design a product that either breaks, hurts, or does nothing. This was an exercise in problem solving by looking for opposite approaches.
OPPORTUNITY
Most dental items are designed to be used only once. The Oral Travel Mate breaks open to allow refilling of toothpaste and floss, thus minimizing waste and cost.
SOLUTION
The Oral Travel Mate stores all the items necessary for good dental hygiene: toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and drinking cup. This is great for traveling and frees up countertop space.
Traditional flossing requires the floss to be tightly wrapped around two fingers on opposite hands. This technique is awkward and painful. The Oral Travel Mate floss tool replaces one finger and enables easier assess to teeth deep inside the mouth.
The toothbrush folds back and nests into itself to minimize the product's height. The lid doubles as a drinking cup.
The spool of floss and toothpaste are replaceable making this an environmentally friendly product.
